Donald Trump was born in New York where he also received a bachelor's degree in economics in 1968. Being only 25 he took control of his father's real estate and construction firm and that's how everything begun. Owning the Miss USA pageants, hosting a reality show, building golf courses or even owning a football team were only few of Trump's ways of "earning a living".
The Beauty Pageants
After the decision of getting in on the business, Donald Trump met with the couple - George Houraney and Jill Harth - who ran the American Dream pageant. After that meeting Trump was said to had "started making passes at her (Harth) almost immediately". Another time, he allegedly "asked them to bring some models to a party", at which he groped Harth. After breaking the contest dealings off, Trump was sued by Harth for sexual misbehaviour and, at the same time, by the couple together for the violation of contract. Trump was also alleged to keep black women out of the pageant.
In 2006, Tara Conner, Miss USA, was caught drinking underage and using cocaine at a New York nightclub. Nevertheless, Trump let her keep the title, provided she enter a drug rehabilitation program, what was criticized by Rosie O'Donnell, American comedian and television personality. This led to Trump's very blunt and personal reply criticizing O'Donnell, "After hearing about her comments, Trump fired back to People, calling her 'a woman out of control'".
Bankruptcies
Trump has never filed for personal bankruptcy. However, his hotels and casinos declared bankrupt several times to, as he admitted himself, re-negotiate debt with banks and owners of stock and bonds. "I’ve used the laws of this country to pare debt. ...this is nothing to do with me, personally. This is just a business. I haven’t even run these things. I only owned a piece of them. But if you look at our greatest businesspeople, most of them, in order to pare debt or change a company or change a structure, have used the laws to take a deal." - Trump told George Stephanopoulos in the interview for ABC News.
Donald Trump is very sensitive about implications about his personal bankruptcy. In an answer to these he declares that he's just playing the game. "...we’ll buy a company. We’ll have the company. We’ll throw it into a chapter. We’ll negotiate with the banks. We’ll make a fantastic deal. We’ll use those. But they were never personal. This is nothing personal. You know, it’s like on The Apprentice. It’s not personal. It’s just business. Okay?"
